Porcelain Pipes
The Porcelain pipe first appeared in Germany in 1760. They were different in design to clay which everyone had been smoking up until then. German porcelain pipes were made in three separate pieces: -A long vertical mouthpiece which could be made of almost any material; -A “Y” shaped porcelain junction piece which incorporates a reservoir for the juices; -A Porcelain Bowl lends itself very well to decoration and some of the earliest pipe heads were decorated in the Meisson factory in about 1760. The bowls were hand-painted and later transfer printed as they became more popular;
